When Strengths Create Ceilings

In my last post, I introduced the idea that our greatest strengths can quietly become ceilings. But how do you know when that’s happening?

Here are a few subtle signs:

  • Feedback feels personal, even when it’s constructive.

  • You’re resisting change, not because it’s wrong—but because it feels like a threat to your identity.

  • You’re exhausted, not from the work itself, but from constantly trying to live up to your own label of being “the reliable one,” “the expert,” or “the fixer.”

These are clues that your strengths may be operating on autopilot—no longer serving your growth, but protecting your comfort zone.

The good news? You don’t need to abandon who you are. You just need to reframe how you grow.

In my keynote, I share tools to help professionals spot these patterns and shift from rigidity to agility. Because growth isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about becoming more of who you’re meant to be.
